Joe & All,

I went to my local NAPA warehouse store. I bought two of these. They
are simular to an Alfa factory tie rod tool a friend had. The advantage is
they can be used from the top with a long extension on your socket
wrench. That is great at the race track.
It is my preferred Tie Rod Removal Tool. I bought 2, one for the shop, one
for the race car trailer.

Ball Joint / Tie Rod Tool. This is not great for Tie Rods as it has too large
a gap, but it will work on Ball Joints. These are available with various gaps
at various stores. You need to search to find the correct gap for Alfa ball
joints.

I find the Pickel Fork pretty worthless for tie rods and ball joints, mostly
because they tear up the rubber boots. They are available in various sizes
and make good general purpose pry bars if nothing else.
