Doug and other Digestibles,

Sorry to write in plain-old English, but I have enough trouble
understanding Doug...never mind trying to write like he does!

Dang right we're having a convention in Frederick, MD! We'll be
celebrating Alfa's 100th birthday from the 23rd through the 27th of
June, 2010. Come and visit the website at www.alfaromeonews.com for
info, or go to www.alfabb.com and check out all the events. If you
are a member of AROC, then you have already been reading about the
convention in Alfa Owner magazine, or perhaps also in your local
chapter newsletters. I've added a little info here below for those
who what to know what we're planning.

The registration form will be published in the January issue of Alfa
Owner magazine. If anyone who doesn't get the magazine needs a copy
of the mail-in form, just let me know by e-mail. Online registration
will be available sometime soon as well. Stay tuned to the website
for details.

Cheers,
Alex Csank

Celebrating 100 years of ALFA in Frederick, MD 23-27 June, 2010

Come help us celebrate ALFAs 100th birthday!

Where? The historic city of Frederick is easily accessed by car and
is just 45 minutes outside Washington DC, with easy access to Dulles
Airport, and Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The
Frederick Holiday Inn & Convention Center is our convention hotel and
is conveniently located near shopping centers, restaurants and
highways.

When? Beginning on Wednesday June 23, and going through Sunday June
27 2010, with a Pre-Convention Tour taking place on Monday June 21 and
Tuesday June 22. In addition to all the great activities, we will
also have rooms full of Alfa vendors, selling everything from new and
used Alfa parts to clothes, artwork, toys, books and lots of other
interesting items.

Monday June 21 and Tuesday June 22:
Pre-Convention Targa Florio Tribute Tour. Registration will be
limited, so sign up early!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010:
The annual AROC Board of Directors Meeting - open to all AROC members
- will be held at the convention hotel beginning at 8AM.
Alternatively, there will be a bus leaving the hotel at about 1PM for
a tour of Historic Frederick, stopping to let folks pursue a walking
tour, do some shopping and then meet up for dinner. The AROC Board
and other meeting attendees will join the group for dinner. After the
meal, a bus will return everyone to the convention hotel.

Thursday, June 24, 2010:
Thursday is track day! The day will begin early at the historic, but
thoroughly updated Summit Point Raceway. Registered racers will do
their best to reduce lap times while spectators cheer them on at the
Time Trials. During lunch hour, a safety car will lead non-racers
around the track for some Parade Laps. And later in the afternoon,
the Alfa Race Car Demonstration will be something you wont want to
miss, as this special ALFA 100th anniversary event will feature
several amazing, historic and valuable Alfa Romeo Racers being driven
in anger - as was intended!

If a day at the track isnt your cup of tea, there will be a Capital
Bus Tour leaving the hotel at 9AM headed for Washington DC. Or, if
you prefer driving through the country instead, why not take one of
our self-guided driving tours? Later on, everyone is invited to join
us for the Welcome Reception and Alfa Centennial Celebrations, which
will be held at the convention hotel. We will be commemorating the
Official 100th Anniversary of A.L.F.A. with a special ceremony and a
big birthday cake! Of course, our Chapter Newsletter Editors, Future
Convention Planners, Chapter Webmasters and other groups will also
want to have their meetings, so arrangements are being made for these
groups to be provided meeting space at the hotel. THERE WILL BE A
MEETING FOR ALL ALFA DIGEST MEMBERS to get together!

Friday, June 25, 2010:
Beginning bright and early at 8AM the Autocross will be held at the
nearby Harry Grove Stadium. The autocross will be followed by a TSD
Beginners Rally, which will depart from the Stadium and end back at
the convention hotel. Later on, a relaxed and fun-filled Tire-Kickin
Swap Meet and Cook-Out, complete with Music, Hot Dogs, Burgers and
Beverages will be the place youll want to be! If you have always
wanted to see the Capitals monuments at night, we have just the tour
for you! A Monuments at Night Bus Tour will leave the hotel at 7PM
bound for Washington DC. The bus will get participants back to the
hotel by about midnight.

Saturday, June 26, 2010:
Saturday is the day to see all the fantastic cars spanning the entire
history of Alfa! The Alfa Century Concorso begins at 9AM at the Stone
Manor Country Club, about 12 miles from the hotel. There, besides
seeing all the great Alfas, you can take the opportunity to have some
lunch and attend one or more of the Technical Seminars being held in
Stone Manor House. Also inside this wonderful old stone manor home,
the judging will be held for the Art Concorso and Model Car Concorso.
Later, our Gimmick Rally participants will depart from Stone Manor and
drive several miles through the Maryland hills answering questions and
collecting clues, and ending up back at the convention hotel in time
to get cleaned up and ready for dinner. Speaking of dinner, this is
the night we all gather in the hotels ballroom for our Alfa Romeo
Centennial AROC Banquet. This sit-down meal will include a short
speech from our special guest, the awarding of several door prizes and
a few words from your AROC Board and Convention Staff. We hope to be
done before 10PM, so that we can all get back to our usual AROC
socializing!

Sunday, June 27, 2010:
For anyone wishing to have your car photographed near the sites at the
nations capital, dont miss Sundays Early Bird DC Monument Driving
and Photo Tour! This tour will leave from the hotel at 7AM and return
in time for the Awards Brunch. Our final event will be the Awards
Brunch, which will begin at 11AM on Sunday in the hotels ballroom.
There, the prizes for the Time Trials, Autocross, TSD and Gimmick
Rally, as well as the Art, Model Car and Alfa Concorso will be
awarded, and we will close the convention and begin the second hundred
years of Alfa Romeo!

Stay tuned to the Alfa Bulletin Board at www.alfabb.com and the AROC
Capital Chapters website at www.alfaromeonews.com for regular updates
regarding the convention and centennial celebrations. Looking forward
to seeing you in Frederick!
