That 72.3 ft-lbs struck me as a conversion from a metric round number,
so I did the conversion. Oddly, it's closest to 98 newton-meters. Not
100, but 98.
On another topic, I'm moving to Columbia, Missouri. Any comments on the
various AROC chapters that I find myself midway between? (off-list is fine)

If you want the official spec it's 72.3 ft-lb for both the steel and alloy
wheels. The value is hidden in only one location so far as I can tell: page
00-3 of the S4 service manual (Alfa's assumption was probably that the cars
wouldn't last long enough for anyone to have to change a tire, so no need to
have the number someplace obvious). Be sure not to forget to dial in that
extra 0.3 on the wrench or you'll most likely die in a horrible, fiery crash.
In all seriousness I've always just torqued the wheels on all my cars to 75
ft-lb and retorqued after 200mi. Pretty much every car I've seen has been
spec'd somewhere between 70-80, so I don't bother splitting hairs (especially
given the likely inaccuracies of various torque wrenches). Interestingly the
Milano bolts never move on the retorque but the Spider's sometimes do slightly.

Subject: [alfa] Wheel bolt torque for '93 Spider Veloce
I know that the owner manual is in my den "somewhere" - but I need to
know NOW what the torque should be for the 15" aluminum "phone dial"
wheels on my '93 Spider Veloce. ??
BTW - I scanned through the on CD shop manual and found torque for
everything BUT the wheels ??
