Hi folks Before i rip out the spica on my 78 California spider i thought i
would try to get it running first ,two questions will it run without the air
box, two what is the cylindrical grey plastic assy on the passenger side
firewall in the engine bay it seems to have a button on the top with an up or
down postion. thanks john

That's right, John. You've located the relay housing for the spiders automatic
seat ejector. The cylinder actuates a coil spring beneath the drivers seat, so
that if the Spica Mechanical Fuel Injection is ever removed, the seat cushion
and all it contains will be explosively driven through the canvas top. This
could happen when you least expect it.
