Why does it make a difference if you run the car after slightly turning the
plugs vs after the total change?  There will be the same amount of carbon
broken off, and it will take the same route out of the engine either way.
There is a remote chance the carbon will get hung up on the exhaust valve, but
I think this is a wives tale.  Kevin

Yes, I have heard of that too and used to do it with some of my other
cars. I believe that Fred D. talked about that and also Fred believed
in pre-wetting oil filters with oil so that initial startup oil
pressure would not damage the filter when dry.
