hey alan, are you related to larry lambert who used to live in ny who should be about 67 yrs old?as i mentioned you could put cardboard in front of the radiator. could be the new thermo is defective also.wouldnt be the first time a new part is not up to par.i would put the themo into a can of water with a thermometer.and if it doesn't stay open wide at 185 its not very good.there are also summer and winter thermos.
