My 1971 Giulia 13000 Super has set a world records for the s-l-o-w-e-s-t windshield wipers in the world. And they have two speeds--really slow, and a hint slower. My wife's 1967 Giulia Super has one speed wipes that are way better--normal in fact. Is there a cure? Do I need a new wiper motor? Are there wiper motors from other Alfas that would fit and solve the problem? Thanks for your help. Timothy in Santa Barbara '67 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super In addition to what Brian suggests, I found the problem in my '72 Spider's wipers to be corrosion in the switch, plus the fact that a jumper called for in the wiring diagram had apparently never been installed. I cleaned up all the connections, fabricated the jumper, and they not only run at regular speeds, for the first time since I got the car, the wipers park instead of stopping wherever they are when the switch is turned off. If that doesn't do the job, you or any competent small electric motor shop should be able to rebuild the motor. A lot of them have toasted wires where they are soldered to the motor, probably caused by running against too much resistance such as worn, unlubricated linkages or turning on the wipers with the blades frozen to the windshield. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a look there. YMWV, Joe -- to be removed from alfa, see http://www.digest.net/bin/digest-subs.cgi or email "unsubscribe alfa" to [email protected]
