Take the A8 (E35 or "Autostrada dei Laghi") North-east out of Milan, When you get to the town of Rho, look for the the RHO exit called the "Via Valera" take the exit right (if you see an AutoGrill with huge arches on your left on the A8, you missed the turnoff - this is a good landmark because you can't miss it!). Bear left in the middle of the cloverleaf off of the A8 and take the exit left. This winds around to the left and straightens out along a row of woods. At the end of the straight, the road curves 90 degrees to the right and you end-up at a traffic circle. Take the traffic circle around almost 270 degrees (you enter at 6:00, and you exit between 10:00 and 9:00 after passing through 12:00! turn right onto the "Viale Alfa Romeo" from the circle. Continue about 500 meters until you see a road "T" in from your left (it does not cross the Viale Alfa Romeo, but ends there. Take that left. It is the entrance to the factory and is so marked. Continue until you pass under a portal which goes over the road. This used to be a gate guard post, but the last time I was there, it was open and unguarded. As soon as you pass through the portal, the road forks. You can go straight or bear right. Take the right fork. This winds around a bit and opens up into the employee and visitor parking lot. As soon as the road opens up into the parking lot, you will see a large guard shack at the extreme left with a fence on either side of it. Find a parking place in the lot and go into that guard house. There, you will be asked to surrender either your passport or your driver's license. Then you follow the signs into the building in front of you and to your left. Enter that, go down the hall to the lobby, take the stairs to the upper level and walk out the doors facing the atrium, and across the courtyard to the Museo Storico building. You can't miss it and there are signs throughout the office building to guide you. Just make sure that you go in the AM well before 1:00 PM or in the PM after 3:00 as the museum is closed for lunch during those hour. They will throw you out promptly at 13:00 hours! These are explicit instructions and if followed should take you right to the museum. I wished I had good instructions like this the first time I went to the Museo. I stumbled around Rho and Arese for hours trying to find the goddamn place (I took the wrong exit). Enjoy, and I hope that these instruction are of some help.

Call in advance to make a reservation. This is best done in Italian. Do
not make it at lunchtime when the guard is cranky. Bring a driver's
license or you won't get in (one for the whole party is ok). Don't believe GPS. Coming from Milano, it is the first Arese exit, and is less than 1/2 mile; if you follow a GPS and take the next exit, it will take you all through the town. If this happens, wander around until you get to the area with all the streets named after famous drivers (Nuvolari, etc.). Get to the road called Alfa Romeo - this leads right into the plant. Walk from the main parking lot (not the covered one) to the guard shack and they will let you in
and show you the way (it is up the hill and to the left).

bon voyaggio!

Graham,

If you go out to the AROC website at www.aroc-usa.org and look on the Tech Library page, you will find a list of parts manuals that are available from
the AROC Librarian, Jim Neill.

Contact Jim and he can get you a copy of the whole parts manual.

I am trying to find the proper names to order some front end parts for my 1971 GTV. Does anybody have a schematic or web site that shows part numbers
and names of the front end pieces.

This is perhaps a silly question, considering that I've been there
before, but can anyone who's been to the museum recently share the
details of getting there and getting in? When I was there six years
ago I had the benefit of a Milanese native doing the driving and the
talking, and IIRC finding the place and getting admitted to the
museum wasn't exactly straightforward. The official web site doesn't
even have the address anymore, only the exit to take from the freeway
(but, ironically, I now own a portable GPS).

Thanks,
Joe
