Subject: [alfa] Re:options to straighten a GTV rear bumper

Gentle Alfisti,
Has anyone had any luck with straightening a dinged stainless bumper? The
early seventies GTV bumpers were thin-gauge stainless.
A source for a decent replacement center section might be the best option. Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes indeed, this applied to both my Spider and Berlina. Peck the ding out
from inside, raising the surface a little above where it was pre-ding, then
sand the injury down in progressively finer grits until it matches the patina
of the area around it. Both my cars (Spider from May, '72 and Berlina, Oct.
'72) had significant bumper dings when I got them. Now, nothing shows. It's
one of the best Sunday afternoons you can spend without a fly rod in your
hand.
