Greetings all I have been scratching my head trying to figure out how to get rid of the stickiness of the console that houses the sunroof and dome-light buttons above the rear-view mirror, but have had no luck. Here is the challenge:
A previous owner, while attempting to clean/shine the console, sprayed some sort of chemical - I am told Armorall may be the culprit - that makes the textured area of the console sticky. The rest of the plastics, like the smooth flat panel behind the dome lights, the dome lights themselves, and the switches, are all fine, i.e. not at all sticky. When I touch the textured area, not only does it feel sticky, but it also smears my fingers with black residue, as if the material is "decomposing" sort of speak. I have seen this before in other 164s but never really looked into it. Now that I have had mine for over 6 months and the thing is still sticky, I have no idea what to do. Any ideas?
