Thanks to those of you with suggestions on curing my Duetto's misfire at idle.
I pulled the idle jets out of the webers (for the second time) and discovered
that I may have focused my attention on the wrong area the first time. I was
spraying carb cleaner in the weber body and making sure all the ports were
open and clear when I think the problem was in the brass jets themselves. I
carefully cleaned the bottom pin hole with a thin wire and reassembled.
Misfire was gone! (at least for a while) I now have a smaller single cylinder
misfire but I think I'm on the right track. I also checked the valve lash and
found good gaps there, but at the same time was able to take a fair amount of
cam chain tension out with the tensioner. It's possible cam timing was
contributing. Made it to the awesome convention concorso, along with some
other Maryland Alfa fun, so all in all, a great success in getting the old
Duetto into the daylight.
