VickAuto.com is just across town from you in Fort Worth. They should
have all the parts you need.
You will need to remove the fan shroud first. You can slide it back and
remove the fan blade. Then remove the shroud. If your fan shroud is cracked
/ broken, your motor mounts have probably sagged over time. You can replace
the motor mounts, or you can put a shim between the motor mount and the
crossmember.
With the fan and shroud out, it is pretty simple to pull the radiator.
That gives more working room for the following.
The main problem with changing the Alfa water pump is that the
crankshaft pulley prevents getting the bottom of the water pump off. You can
remove the crankshaft pulley using a 36 MM socket. Or you can double nut and
remove the bottom two studs on the water pump and try to work it out that
way.
I prefer to remove the crank pulley. Pulling the crank shaft pulley will
require removing all the fan belts. This would be a good time to change them
all. Or at least inspect all the belts before reusing them.
And you just as well change all the radiator hoses too. Watch the by
pass hose. It has a brass valve in the hose that you need to remove (cut it
out) and slide into the new bypass hose. Use Anti Seize to help it slide into
the hose.
In fact, I like to use Anti Seize on all the hose connections. It helps
them slide into place, it helps them seal and the come off much easier at some
time in the future.

Looks like I need a water pump for my '82 spider. Any advice on where to get
the
parts, what parts I'll need, and what to look for when I finally dig into the
project?
A general brain dump will be appreciated.
Thanks a heap,
