How do you know the Chi Guy even has your car any more? If it's only 250
miles, get some other car, even a rental, drive it to the Chi garage, and
apply a suitable tool in demanding the return of your car, or the parts that
used to be your car, or even your paperwork. Then, find the former mayor
of Chicago - a lawyer, after all - to help you. I hear he needs money
badly.

Hi !

i had my 164 trailered to Chicago (~250 miles) to get the timing belt
and cam angle sensor replaced by someone who knows what he's doing,
& while there the clutch & windshield.
That was JANUARY ! i call him occasionally and he always says it will
be done in the next week or two.

Anyone have any experience or ideas about how to get the guy to get
my car done ??

thanks,
jak doskow

sounds like a really bad bussines man.as is i wouldnt be put off by the
fact
that he may refuse to do your work.if you feel that way he could push the
work
off forever.he may have your car but he's not upholding a minimum of
service.sounds like a prima donna.i would look into alternative mechanical
service.sometimes places that deal with volvos or saabs are not afraid to
tackle alfas also.find a place that agrees to do it and then you could
threaten to remove your car and after its removed if it comes to that hit
him
with a small claims suit for the towing and a bit more.don't tell him about
the lawsuit till the car is in your posession.what was the problem with the
car anyway.till i retired i had a garage for years in ny and i found more
then
95% of the other garages we dealt with to be honest.this putting off thing
is
crazy stuff.its negligent.of course i can't judge being i don't know what
you
agreed with him before the towing of your car to him.

Thanks, good idea, before actually asking any of my lawyer friends i could
mention that i'm thinking about it.
One of the problems is that telling him how annoyed i am getting about the
situation will probably make it
even less likely that he'l have any interest in finnishing the project,
though
last week i said that i wanted
a real estimate of the time - tired of the next week crap, & how much it's
costing. haven't heard back.
