Cats:

I managed to let the dedion down enough to slide in two 2x4s logitudinally
so the cv joint mounts rest on them. I was then able to raise the whole thing
so that the main bolt had little tension and could slide out. The whole thing
has now come down.

It is now a unit with wheels on it as well. Now of course it will not roll out
from under the car like I planned because the wheels will not clear the fender
wells. I can gain a few inches by removing the wheels and lowering it onto
some kind of trolly - I certainly can get some small wheels from the hardware
store and screw them onto a piece of wood.

I think I'll have the clearance needed after that. Thanks Ira and Brian for
responding.

As I mentioned, I'm doing new syncros and poly bushings and a donut is
in need of replacement as well. I may have more questions later as this is
just the first step. Trans work will be done by others. I'm dreading putting it
all back up there because as it came down, it shifted slightly sideways and
backward due to the springs letting their tension out. I don't know how I'm
going to line everything up again, but I'll burn that bridge when I
get to it in a
few weeks time.

Thanks for now,
Stefano
