I have a 71 GTV and the alternator light would glow slightly
intermittently.
After a long search for the cause, on night, I saw a slight flicker
while probing the fuse block.
I discovered that the battery contact and the fuse strip were riveted
together and the rivet was loose.
When I was probing it had sparked.
I soldered it and the problem went away.

Subject: [alfa] Alternator light - sporadic behavior
Cats:
Anyone got an idea why the alternator light in my 74 GTV will
come on bright and flickering for part of the day, and then
completely off for the rest?
Car cranks fine and fast, even when it does not fire right away,
so the battery appears to be pretty strong.
I'm guessing a short somewhere. Looking for common
areas to check if someone has seen this behavior before.
Thanks,
Stefano
