My exhaust system is all stock and I've located a long crack in the front
resonator (on the weld where the pipe enters the resonator at the front) and
a smaller on on the middle muffler (same location as the resonator) on my
'73 GTV. Lots of backfiring from the resonator on deceleration is the main
problem and I'm sure that the cracks will not heal themselves...where are
our Alfa repair nano-bots ?!
Even though this is my track car, it is fully licensed for the street and I
do drive it Summit Point for events so I don't want it too loud.
My options right now are:
1) replace with original-like units
2) replace front resonator, and replace middle muffler with straight
pipe (IAP has them in SS)
3) replace front resonator, and replace middle and rear mufflers with
straight pipe (IAP has them both in SS)
Do Options 2 & 3 give me any hp advantages over the stock setup ? The SS
pipes have the advantage of being less susceptible to rust, probably easier
to install, and lighter in weight.
Thanks,
Bruce
