My new Fiat 500 was delivered in April and is listed on the MSO and title as a 2012 model. What that means is that it meets all of the 2012 requirements and all though it was produced in 2011 it is a 2012 model. (it also probably means that it is going to be late in 2011 before Fiat really gets the advertising going so they can just continue building the same models through 2012 as well :>)
Are you wanting to see if the VIN # you have was in the range of numbers that were listed as being manufactured for the model year that matches the model year you have been told for the car?
