I bought a new car and added it to my AAA insurance. Then I decided to
review all my auto insurance. I got a quote from USAA. I've heard great
things about them. Turns out that AAA charged way less for the 3 cars I had
on their policy already--but way more for the new car. I tried to insure
the new car alone with USAA--but they said all or nothing so I will probably
stick with AAA. Has anyone had luck negotiating rates with insurance
companies? Curious that AAA was lower for three cars and way higher for the
new car!

I then reviewed my Antique Car insurance--I have used J.C. Taylor for
years--25 plus I'll bet. USAA recommended American Collectors Insurance.
American Collector Insurance had two types of policies. One--car related
events only. The other--can drive to the grocery store on occasion if you
want. The restrictive one was 30% higher than J.C. Taylor and the more
liberal one was twice the cost of the restrictive one! All for cars going
less than 1000 mi/year.

I'd appreciate others experiences with regular and collector insurance
companies. Have any of you filed a claim with a collector insurance
company? Will they deny coverage if you drive the car to the store when
they say they only cover car club events? Will they deny a claim if your
car was in a carport instead of a garage?
