The time has come for me to accept that the venerable Rust Rocket,
a.k.a. ZARAA6693C1002419, has deteriorated beyond the point where I
can no longer pretend it's safe. (It was actually at that point two
years ago when I moved to Lexington, and I might have left it in a
junkyard in Kansas if the late Russ Neely hadn't tipped me off that
the 2011 AROC convention was conveniently going to be held in
Lexington.) I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to bring myself to
part with it, but after 22+ months of telling myself I'd sell it in
July 2011, the time has come.
Notable parts include a good transaxle, glass, ECUs, Milano aircon
compressor, Euro exhaust, upgraded radiator fans, hatch (w/ recently
raplaced gas strut), hood (w/ intact hood prop guide), custom
windshield sun shade, 150 mph speedometer, coolant reservoir,
suspension (w/ NLA Tom Zat "Steer-Rite" camber adjusters and recently
replaced bushings), slotted brake discs, desirable Brembo front
calipers, braided stainless steel brake flex hoses, K&N reusable air
filter, Cibie complex-reflector Euro-spec headlights, etc. Notable
flaws include severe rust, ratty interior (originally blue, front
seats are tan and of the '84-86 style), power mirrors and oil
pressure gauge inoperable, engine and rear brakes no longer 100%.
Additional spares include new center and rear giubos, airflow meter,
power mirror switch, stock Benzoni alloys wheels, extra passenger
door glass + latch/lock hardware, extra engine in pieces, and more.
Service records are available dating back to 1989. I'm asking $900,
but that price is certainly negotiable, especially if you're not
interested in the headlights, sun shade, and additional spares. See
it at the 2011 AROC national convention next weekend in beautiful
Lexington, Kentucky and drive it home (at your own risk)!
This photo was just taken yesterday:
http://joeshouse.2y.net:8080/~jelliott/GTV-6_2.jpg (And yes, I do
have all four bumper filler pieces and the trim strip that goes under
the rear bumper, and they're included with the car, they're just not
all on the car presently because the sheetmetal they attach to has
rusted away in places.)
Not registered for the convention yet? See
http://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=904882 (And
of course even if you're not in the market for a GTV-6 parts car, I'd
love to meet up if you're going to attend the convention!)
