Brethren:

I just had an alternator fire while driving my '88 Ford F-150. I pulled over and extinguished it, to find that the field wires had come loose, out of their connector and were making contact with the alternator body. Got the wires away and safe. The fire fried some of the other wires in the area. So now I've got some work cut out for me. I know this is off-topic, but has any one ever heard of this happening before? With ANY make of car?
