I haven't wanted to get into this is it or isn't crap because frankly it is stupid (stoopid) and irrevelant... The current Alfa V-8 is a Maserati engine by way of Ferrari so is it an Alfa? Oh and by the way Fiat owns Chrysler so the V-10 is a company powerplant just like the Ferrari. Just hope the Alfas finally come back to the US (please no SUVs)... NOW lets get back to the digest... I have a 1969 1750 Spider that will not idle on all four cylinders. Twin Weber 40s in place of the SPICA F.I. I've checked the compression, excellent on all four, valve timing correct and the car runs great at any RPM over idle. I've replaced the car blocks and the carbs are supposed to have been rebuilt. Working the idle adjustment will move the idle around the cylindere and the car will run on three cylinders, any three but not all four. It was suggested the engine is pulling enough vacuum to draw fuel into all four cylinder at 850RPM. I'm thinking I need to rebuild the carbs... Any thoughts? Had Harley ecided that brains, math and physics matter, they would have been building 0 degree V-twins since the 1930s. A 90 degree V-twin: now THAT engine can e balanced. And there are other companies--Moto Guzzi, Ducati, Honda--that ave campaigned that layout successfully for a long time. Ferrari and osworth? 90 degrees. I assume t's an electric pump if noise is a problem. Maybe you could attempt to insulate the mounting system to reduce vibrations rom pump to chassis, and insulate the pump itself. Either wrap the pump or abricate an insulated cover? If it's in the tank, insulate the tank better on its mounts, and use some ype of sound insulating underfelt over the tank.
