Although I do not have any experience with a scissor type lift, I suspect that they would be best suited for tire/brake/suspension work and least suited for transaxle R/R and unsuitable for exhaust work.

I have a four post lift. Great for working under the car (exhaust), great for storing one car above the other, good for tire/brake/suspension work (using a jacking bridge), haven't tried a transaxle R/R but we did do a clutch change on a friend's Milano. A two post lift is even better for working under a car but not for storing one above the other. Plus a two post lift requires a stronger/thicker concrete floor (four post lift sits on standard residential garage's concrete floor).

Where are you located? If you (or any other Digesters) are near central NC you're welcome to come visit me in Mebane, put your car up on the lift and wrench to your hearts delight.

Have some work to do on my Milano and Spider ( remove Transaxle from Milano and replace exhaust system on Spider). When i was younger could spend hours on the floor under either car . Getting too old for that now. Have been looking
at car lifts and possibly the scissor type.
Does anyone have experience with these and do you have nay recommendations.
Are they suitable for significant underbody work or best suited for oil
changes . tires and brake work. All advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
