Greetings all,

I'm just restoring our 1750, and as part of this the exhaust needs replacing, from the output of the manifold to the back of the car. At the moment it's got mostly 45 mm tubing, with one muffler about the middle of the car (it's not a straight-through muffler).

The car isn't too noisy, but it feels strangled. I think I should look at 2-inch piping with probably two straight-through mufflers, for reasonable flow without being too noisy. It's a standard engine, and the car will be used for fast touring on trips (no city use, and no racing.) We're Alfa people so we don't want it TOO quiet. Just something nice for a sporty road car.

Any suggestions on pipe size and the number of mufflers please? Am I on the right track with the above? It's what we use on our 1700 Suds and it seems good on those.

Thanks all,
