The Alfa Mailing List predates the Alfa BB by a good number of years. Ken Stevenson, in a recent post, remembers that the Alfa list was a spinoff of the even earlier Italian Car List. I had forgotten that. When the Alfa list started, web bulletin boards as we know them now didn't exist or at least weren't that common. I seem to remember some unpleasantness surrounding sharing email address lists when the BB was a start-up (or up-start) and we didn't know what it was all about. The Alfa List is a tool of the email generation while the BB is a tool of the WWW generation. Both have their place and have value, although the traffic on the List has lessened greatly since the advent of the BB with its ability to post pictures, maintain threads, and perform searches, etc. The List used to be THE place to go for the on-line Alfa community. The best thing about the List is that you can still ask a question and get a pretty intelligent and well-focused answer.
