I rebuilt the transmission in my Alfetta, without any prior knowledge
of how to do it. I was just going to replace the clutch and I figured
I was halfway there already.

The Haynes manual and Alfa Workshop manual on my Alfetta CD were the
two references I used. There were pitures, so I figured I could do it.
The diagram on this post gave me the confidence to do it:

I just made sure I stored the disassembled parts in order for when I
put it back together.

I bought new synchros from Alfa Parts in Berkeley and took the gears
to Merritt Carden so he could lighten them. That modification makes a
significant difference.

My advice: go ahead, but maybe turn off the TV when you're putting it
back together.
