I try to avoid computers in the garage due to my tendency to touch them after,
say, pulling the engine from a 1976 Spider or after working on brakes. Some of
those keys never come clean. Also, those machines have a tendency to try to
mate with my RX8 and reprogram its fuel mapping.

I happen to like football, so the TV-in-garage things works well for me. I
subscribe to Direct TV, so I have music as well. And all sorts of other
stuff.

If I'm working on something which requires complete attention, I pay no
attention to the TV. But if I'm doing something repetitive, such as shining up
a 2L valve cover or peeling off 35-year-old moulding adhesive, it's nice to
have some entertainment.

Besides, the TV and sat receiver were sitting collecting dust. So why not? The
setup is proving popular with neighbors...folks are starting to wander up and
linger. Whether this is for the football or to watch me remove major
components from the Spider, I don't know.
