Hi all,
I checked my tap and die sets and in the metric sets is a 1/8-28 pipe tap.
I could have sworn it was metric but that's what is in both sets.
Anyhow, I have cobbled up a deal with a "T" fitting to screw into the
block. Then install the sending unit in one "T" and with an assortment of
fittings and hoses attach the direct reading gauge to the other "T", run it
inside the car and go drive it. That way you can compare one to the other.
You can install this rig into any oil pressure orifice with the same
results. Old physics lesson: pressure in a confined liquid is equal
throughout that liquid.
I installed the wrong sending unit in my Duetto a few years back with the
same results.
I also installed a new sending unit that reads in the right direction but
a whole bunch less than the original. Like I said, Alfa gauges are only an
indicator, don't expect them to be calibrated.
