Hi All

>From time to time there have been questions about renting an Alfa to drive
around Italy. My wife and I have just returned from 2+ months of travelling,
most of it in Italy firstly in Sicily in a Lancia whatsitever and then on
the mainland in a wait for it .. Peugeot 5008. The less said about this
second car the better but it did have heaps of space for 4 plus luggage etc
when 2 friends joined us to travel to Puglia and via Sorrento to Rome. When
I went to collect the Lancia at Palermo Punta Raisi Airport, a new Giulietta
had just been returned and if I was prepared to wait and to pay a bit extra,
that would have been cleaned and made available. We were on a pretty tight
schedule wanting to drive to Trapani and get up to the ancient Medieval city
of Erice so I passed on that option. By the way, Erice sits on a hilltop
with a commanding view of the coastline and Palermo below. Story has it that
when invading troops asked the locals for a good place to camp with just
those properties, they directed to that hilltop where Erice now stands.
Little did they know that the area was infested with tarantulas . Nice.
There are two ways to get up there, by gondola cable car or up a narrow
winding road with switchbacks. I drove and what a drive!

This morning I received an email from Luzzago.com the place that has a great
classic car collection and also prepares/restores classics and auctions them
or sells outright. They are now making available classics to rent for
holidays. I do know that they have a wonderful collection of Alfas. By the
way, I have never been in touch with Luzzago but apparently they are a
reputable company that caters for the interests of classic car owners. Their
message is pasted below.

Happy Alfa motoring..
