I would say that if you are going to use a tow dolly for any significant
distance (say greater than 5 miles), remove the driveshaft. The
transmission will NOT lubricate itself properly if towing with the rear
wheels on the ground.
I would add that it would be best not to do it at all if the car hasn't
been driven recently.
