Dearly Beloved: After years of taking seriously Mrs. O's insistence that two Alfas is maybe one too many, I've decided to test her resolve by buying a third. The upside is that there's no danger of my being sent to live in the garage, as it's full already ... besides, I'm the cook.
Anyway, the car in question is a '76 Alfetta GT. It's a good solid example, but has a few "features" that the current owner likes and I don't, starting with the wide phone-dial wheels and 205-section tires, coupled with a steering wheel the diameter of a Mason jar ring. I don't mind an upper-body workout, but I'd prefer to start with the 5-pound weights instead of the 50s. So if anyone has a set of standard Alfetta wheels to get rid of, with or without tires, I'd love to hear about them. I would also like to know if the spare Milano steering wheel I have will fit the Alfetta column. It's a good deal less than steamboat-sized, but I think usefully larger than the go-kart thing that's on there now. The Milano continues to be up for sale, if anyone wants an amazingly reliable beater. It needs some blisters and wrinkles taken care of, and it has a cracked/scuffed air dam (I have a good spare), but the windows work again, the driver's seat is sittable, and it passed the smog test by an encouraging margin. No, I will not price it for LeMons ... Oh, and it's missing most of its AC system. Will Owen Pasadena, CA '87 Milano Gold '91 164S '01 Scoobydoo Forester Coming Soon!!
