Today I had the opportunity to test the fuel pressure at the SPICA pump.
It was just above 20 psi - maybe 21 psi (my gauge is 2 psi between marks
and the marks are close together) . According to Wes the psi should range
between 10-20 psi with it ideally between 15-18 psi, so my pump is running
a bit high. At the front fuel filter is a valve that opens when the
pressure is over 17 psi to return fuel back to the tank - this is always
opened and returning fuel at 20 psi.

The return outlet opening on the FI pump determines the pressure - the hole
in the return outlet was a bit smaller than 1/16" of an inch; stock is
3/32". I opened it up to 3/32" and the pressure dropped to below 10 psi,
just around 8 psi to where the low pressure light would flicker with just
the pump running. I resoldered the hole and drilled it 1/16" and reamed
the hole a bit larger. Now the pressure reads just a bit over 16 psi and
the fuel pressure light does not flicker at all. At 16 psi the valve at
the fuel filter is not returning fuel back to the tank all the time. I'm
going to leave it there for now and see what happens.

And I'm going hold off on venting the tank to the atmosphere but I'll carry
all gear to install it at the track ('T' connection and some 5/16" fuel
line) just in case.
