Here's an interesting question: 
I have found a euro timing cover from a later-model 1600 that has a spin-on oil 
filter boss.  Can I use this on an early model 1600 that has a block-mounted 
canister filter?  Do the oil lines line-up through the timing-cover-block 
interface?  If so, I could possibly use the old cannister boss as a take-off 
for a remote oil cooler and use the spin-on filter in a conventional way?  Has 
anybody tried this?  Canisters are such a pain. Thanks Digest.
