Cleaning the 'coil spring' may not be enough. I had a sticky throttle in our
'84 Spider. I removed the bell crank under the plenum and found that the
bell crank was seizing on the pivot. Make note of how it is assembled then
remove a circlip to disassemble, clean & lube it. I also found that the
rivet securing the shaft was working loose - the seizing bell crank was thus
rotating on the rivet instead of the intended bushing area.
Here are some links to threads on the AlfaBB (some with pictures) about this
issue.

Also, be careful R/R'ing the plastic rod ends in the L-jet cars - they get
brittle & can break. Centerline Alfa sells new ones - but if you need
replacements consider the metal ones listed for SPICA cars.

Subject: [alfa] sticky Spider throttle problem
I have an '85 Spider with a throttle that sticks when the cars gets warm.
I've checked the linkage on the passenger side of the engine and cleaned
the coil spring. That part seems to be ok. I assume the problem is
upstream of that, but I've been wrong before.
Any ideas?
thanks,
