I found one at a well-stocked independent hardware store here in Fresno. I have also purchased metric taps (8mm and 6mm) at the hardware store in Japan Town in San Francisco. Neither of these stores is a typical hardware store; but, it seems to me that if I can find one in Fresno, you should be able to find one in the Bay Area.
