Be prepared for one of the most tedious tasks on a 116 car. Any additional space to get at the bolts holding the rack in place would be a boon. So the cherry picker may help a lot.
To pull the rack out through the wheel well holes requires patience and several rotations as I recall. (I may be recalling my GTV6 but I think they are similar.)
