Subject: [alfa] inertia switch

The cylindrical gray inertia switch in my 1977 Alfetta GT has failed.
It no longer will pass current to the fuel pump and I've had to wire around
it to keep running. I bought a replacement from a junker and it is just as
bad. Is there anything that can be done to rehabilitate it or is there a
suitable alternative switch available? I doubt there is anything
Alfa-specific about it; it is simply mounted to the firewall with two wires
attached. Do all cars with electric fuel pumps have a similar device? Does
anyone know a suitable substitution?
