I believe Classic & Sportscar compares the MGA and 101 Spider in an article
within the last 3 or so years. I'll have a copy somewhere, buried in a box
in the shed.....................

Subject: [alfa] MG vs. Afla Romeo

I had an MG-TD as my first car and bought a used MGB when I graduated from
college. It was a fun car. (They both were.) I later drove a 1992 Alfa
Spider Veloce for 20 years--a light years better vehicle. I don't have a
link to the article mentioned, but remember it well, comparing the two cars.

MG? Cast iron push rod engine. Leaf rear springs. Drum rear brakes.
Alfa? Aluminum DOHC engine--hundreds of pounds lighter with more power.
Independent suspension all around. Disc brakes all around.

What's there to compare? The MG, though fun, is little better than a Model
A Ford and the Alfa a state of the art automobile!
