I have a brute force method of finding shorts when the easier methods don't
work and my short finder doesn't work either. Keep in mind things will get
hot and you might let the smoke out. I replace the fuse with an automatic
circuit breaker that resets itself. Some of these I have that will fit into
the fuse holder or I use jumper wires to a bigger one. This should be the
same amperage as the fuse. If you use bigger it can get ugly. Turn power on
and the circuit breaker will start to cycle. You can then move and poke
various wires and parts until it stops. Use at your own risk and keep a fire
extinguisher handy.
