Rich and all,
Is there something I don't know about this nut? Why won't any nut with
the same thread do the job? Seems like you could get one at any local nuts
and bolts hardware store. Or, how about a blown junk yard engine or a machine
shop that specializes in valve jobs?
That'll teach you to stray away from Alfas ;-)

Subject: [alfa] Tappet Jam Nut

Brother Raccoons:

I'm in a pinch with a non-Alfa problem, and if you don't mind I'd like to ask
for your ideas. I've
got an '89 Mitsubishi Mirage. Its valve train uses rockers with adjustable
tappets and jam nuts to
keep them in place, just like on the GTV6. The problem is, one of the jam nuts
is stripped and I
need to find a replacement. Do any of you have any idea where to find that
kind of nut? I can't
get it from Mitsubishi any more, and none of the usual auto parts outlets
carry that part for any
car. Ideas?

Warmest,

Rich Wagner
