Cats: Thanks for the info and discussion on the Lada. Nice info. I'll spare the new owner the details as he is happy with his "best car in the world". We've all been there.
Hey, about coils and wires. How long would you keep your spark plug wires before replacing? Mine (74 GTV) are at least 10 years old I think. I can't remember. They are the blue ones from either IAP or CL, can't remember that either. Also, what suitable coil from local purchase is available? Mine has a ballast resistor and is about 1.4 Ohm primary resistance and the resistor is 1.5 Ohm. It's also at least 10 years old and I think I even got it used somewhere. I have a Bosch distributor with a Pertronix Ignitor I module I put in some 8 years ago. I've developed a misfire under hard acceleration and at high rpms. I've been swapping around some old wires with some improvement but not complete cure. I think it's high time for some new parts. With the reliability of the Pertronix, one just never pays attention to the ignition items anymore save pulling the plugs and cleaning/replacing once in a while.
