Fellow Muskrats, I'm sure that you'all remember my recent problem with my
GTV misfiring at constant throttle at 50-65 mph. Many ideas were bandied
about and one discovery was that the distributor's advance curve was way
too steep: at 2500 rpm it was already at 30 degrees, at 3000 it was at
35....

My distributor was a very early RML model (1999) so Ric kindly reset the
curve for me. Last weekend I found the time to reinstall it in the GTV.
The engine started right up and I set the full advance to 35 degrees. But
the best thing is that finally got a decent idle; before it was around
barely turning over 500 rpm and now it is 800-850. My test run was on a
cool morning and I found that the rpms had risen up to around 1200 which it
rarely did in the past. The rpms dropped as the engine approached
operating temps. This made low speed maneuvers so much easier - no more
feathering the throttle to keep it running ! Running like it should !

And the miss has disappeared as well !

Now to do something about the exhaust leak at the center muffler ....

And the Guzzi's alt. bracket has split all the way thru....
