G'day from NZ,

Here's a query, probably for the racers and builders and tuners amongst the group...... it's about oil for refilling Koni Adjustable front strut inserts, as used on AlfaSud cars (not sold in the USA, I realise, but the same principles might apply to others....). These inserts are a self-contained sealed type, i.e. a tube with the telescopic chrome shaft protruding from one end and a screw-on oil-filler cap at the other end. The whole thing slips into your front strut tube on the car.

Anyway, an insert on one of my Suds started losing its oil recently, as the cap had come loose and the oil started to pump out. I need to empty it all out and refill it with fresh oil, but don't know what to use, and how much. Koni info seems to be a state secret and I can't find out any official info. Some writers on other car-groups suggest motorcycle fork oil, about 5 or 7.5 weight, but I've found nothing definite.

Any ideas please?
Many thanks,
Graham Hilder, NZ
