I would however like to know how to prevent my car from suffering from periods
of idleness.
Drive it as often as you can without stressing yourself out. The important thing is to drive it
long enough on each outing for the engine and exhaust system to hot-soak. After the engine comes up
to normal temperature, drive it for at least another 15 minutes or so. That will prevent water from
condensing in the crankcase and in the exhaust. Letting it sit for even a month between drives
shouldn't hurt it.
