What Andrew said. Try a coat hanger, or something you can hold somewhat straight for the first 8"-12". Once you get it past the box, the rest should be clear sailing.

There is a standpipe inside the box for the wire, the top of which sites above the oil level to prevent leaks. It still may not be easy, but might be possible. The straighter the wire, the better.
