Rob, are you certain it's an electrical short?  What exactly are the symptoms?  
If it's fuel starvation it may be something loose in the tank which blocks the 
pickup when you hit a bump.  Sometimes when you hear hooves, it may actually be 
a Zebra!!!  Of course one needs to discount the horses first.
