Assuming it's similar to the same vintage Spider, I've always done it by
getting it in position from inside the trunk, then opening the fuelB filler
door and pushing it around the flange from there.B It's much easier to push
it 'out' with your fingers from inside the fuel filler.B When you put it into
position in the trunk, slip it over the front part of the flange.B Then you
only need to get the rear part over the flange from inside the filler
