This is not uncommon in my neck of the woods with older autos with
old-style lubricants. I used to drive Alfas as daily drivers in sub zero
temps and it was a must to depress the clutch when starting. It became
such a habit that I always depress the clutch when starting. Now with
starter interlocks, it is necessary even with modern lubricants.

Shell Dentax gets so stiff in the cold that when in neutral, the car pulls
forward under the viscous load of rotating internals. Has anyone experienced
this?
