Why would you want to disable the editor? It comes handy when there is just a minor version number of a package is wrong in the profiles. I just adjust it within the editor and it all runs smooth...

There's been a discussion about this long time ago. I think the outcome was that the editor was found to be largely useless because it cannot effectively be used to edit the profiles. It's just not useable enough, and it doesn't save changes (I think). I see no need to rediscuss this.
