I agree with Mark that things have changed... If we take the term PC to mean personal computing, which is proper, then indeed Microsoft no longer has market dominance.
I also focus on this part of Mark's statement: "But it's better for us to focus our intent on excellence in our own right, rather than our impact on someone else's product." I, again, agree... in fact I have had this issue with bug #1 since the beginning of my time using Ubuntu. Microsoft was never 'the problem'; the problem was the lack of a quality alternative. Ubuntu has helped create an environment that has a quality alternative to OS X and Windows. People, more than ever, can make a choice. Sure there are still issues with hardware compatibility, but they are not anywhere near as bad as they once were. It is time to look forward and pursue expanding the quality of open source applications to give users more and more choices. Thanks to all of those that worked on the open source bits that went in to making Ubuntu what it is today.
