In some cases, it's due to OpenGL running faster on Linux systems in general (typically thanks to nVidia's drivers) but other factors include better memory and process management in Linux compared to Windows. With the bugs pouring in on the latest version of that competing platform, with it's developer denying the existence of said bugs and even large companies like Valve refusing to work around those bugs, our job may have just gotten a lot easier.
